Korean Art Gift Ideas: Meaningful Small Prints for the Holidays

A small art print makes a good gift when it says something. In Korean art most motifs already do: the tiger guards a home, the carp climbs toward success, the peony wishes wealth and honor. Here is a short guide to choosing a print by what you want to wish someone, plus a few practical notes on timing and format.

Choose by the wish

  • A new home: the tiger. In Korean folk painting the tiger kept misfortune away, and tiger pictures were hung at the New Year for exactly that reason. Our ink tiger is a calm guardian for an entryway or a first apartment. (The story behind it)
  • A graduate, a new job or a big exam: the carp. The carp that leaps the Dragon Gate becomes a dragon, and the image has long stood for passing the exam and getting ahead. Our two ink carp swim upstream together. (The story behind it)
  • A wedding or an anniversary: the peony. The king of flowers stands for wealth and honor, and peony screens stood behind Joseon royal weddings. (The story behind it)
  • Parents and grandparents: the crane. In Korean art the crane is one of the ten symbols of long life. Our moonlit crane is a quiet way to say it (why the crane stands for long life).
  • A minimalist friend: the moon jar. One white jar, a little lopsided, nothing else. (Why it became a masterpiece)
  • Someone who loves color and pattern: dancheong. The five colors painted on Korean palaces and temples, made modern. (What dancheong is)
  • A winter birthday: plum blossom. Plum blossoms open in the cold at the end of winter, a small picture of patience and strength (why Korean painters loved them).

Choose by the format

  • A stocking stuffer: a 4x6 print. Postcard size slips into a stocking or a card and fits any standard 4x6 frame. Add a simple frame and it is ready for a desk.
  • A small set: the Signature Trio. Three 4x6 prints, any three Drop 01 designs, chosen when you order. It makes a ready-made mini gallery wall.
  • A last-minute gift: a printable download. Our printable files arrive right after purchase. Print one at a local print shop, frame it, and it is done the same day.

Timing

Printed gifts are made to order. Production takes 3 to 5 business days, and US delivery usually takes 1 to 5 business days after that, so order printed gifts early in the season. Printable downloads can be bought and printed at any time. Prints arrive unframed; frames are not included.

Designs are created with the help of AI tools and art-directed by our studio. Gift photos are digital mockups; stockings, wrapping and frames are not included.
